Welcome to another bulletin from the Tiger’s den.

State Championships

Well it hasn’t taken long for our tournament squad to make an impression on state selectors, with excellent results from all competitors at the State Championships. We have had five from our squad selected to represent NSW at the 2006 Australian Championships which will be held in August. The coming weeks and months will be very intense as we prepare the squad for scheduled tournament sessions.

Although state selection is a very exciting time, we must not forget our fundamentals. Shotokan Karate was based on a very strong basic technique and we must never get lost in the hype of competition. None the less, tournament participation plays an important role in the growth of ones understanding for combat. Everyone will gain significantly from those who represent our organisation.

New dojo in Fairfield

More good news! We have secured a Honbu dojo. In other words, we now will have a full time training venue located at Fairfield Heights. This dojo will allow us to run classes every day of the week. We can accommodate beginners, intermediates and experienced levels. We will introduce specific adult classes again as well as tournament specific sessions.

Our new venue will run alongside the Randwick Dojo which has been established for well over 25 years. The new dojo will house two training areas, one set up with our competition mats, and the other a more traditional floor for basic training. There will be change rooms, a reception area for waiting/watching parents, a small cafe for all your hot and cold drinks and some light snacks.

We will be having an opening day shortly, so we’ll keep you posted.

Sensei Pascal’s Seminars

The biggest seminar in years was held from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd April. Sensei Pascal Le Court from France was here for three days only and I hope you all got along to at least one session. This seminar was endorsed by The NSW Karate Federation and was featured in Blitz magazine.
