Classes

Junior class

We teach students of all ages, from kids to adults, and all abilities, from absolute beginners to experienced veterans.

There are also Self Defence training sessions, designed esspecially for women.

We have all classes at various times each week, at both of our venues.

Weekly classes are supplemented with regular tournaments and seminars which help students learn in a variety of environments, and get to test their skills against students from other schools.

As students progress, their skills are examined through a series of gradings whereby students earn a rank (more commonly known by the colour of the belts which represent their ranks). For more information please see the handbook.

Most students continue their training for many years. Some even take a break for school, work, marraige, kids or travel and come back years later to continue where they left off.

Frequently asked questions

Is it dangerous?
Whilst all forms of physical activity and sport have an inherent risk of injury, karate is quite safe because at the core of the philosophy is control. Students develop skills progressively over time and learn to control these skills before being allowed to move on. Discipline and responsibility are our highest priorities. At all times our instructors ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students. See the handbook for more on the process of learning karate.
How much does it cost?
See the membership section for details.
What do we need for the first class?
Beginners should wear comforable clothing that does not restrict movement. They may be kneeling, crouching or rolling on the floor during exercises and will need to be able to move about freely. They will also probably get quite hot and sweaty during the class. We recommend something like a pair of track-suit pants and a old t-shirt.
Where do I buy the Karate uniform from and what other equipment do we require?
See the membership section for details.
